Fall 2020 On-Campus Housing

Housing De-densification

Campus residence halls will plan to open for the 2020 fall semester. Working with public health officials and the University’s Healthcare Advisory Group, we have placed a great deal of thought and care into on-campus housing plans for the fall. In the interest of health and safety, University Housing is de-densifying on-campus housing accommodations.

Students living in residence halls with communal bathrooms will be assigned one per bedroom. Students in other residence halls may be reassigned to align with recommended safety guidelines. Panther Central will send first-year students individual housing assignments in mid-July. Upperclass students who selected a housing assignment in the spring will keep their existing assignments

Part of our on-campus housing de-densification includes expanding student housing through Pitt Experience Partner Properties at area hotels. The same commitment, care, and attention given to students in residence halls will be provided to students who reside in a Pitt Experience partner property to ensure a positive, fully integrated student experience, including dedicated Resident Assistants and a Resident Director, 24/7 welcome attendants, campus shuttles, and dining services.

A significant portion of first-year students will live in residence halls. First-year students who live in hotel residences are expected to be within a 15-minute walk of campus. We will provide updates as details are finalized. View our FAQ for more information. We are available to assist you in navigating your housing plans – if you have any questions, please contact Panther Central

We’ve partnered with UPS to streamline Arrival this year while enhancing social distancing efforts. Ship2Pitt provides on-campus students with pre-paid UPS Ground shipping service to deliver your belongings to your home away from home.

No more housing carts or multiple trips on move-in day! Deliveries are conveniently routed through our warehouse for a security scan before being sent directly to your residence hall room. Visit our website to learn more about what to bring to campus!

Click here to learn more and create your 5 pre-paid shipping labels. You must supply your own shipping materials. Please follow the Preparing Your Package guidelines. We recommend using boxes no bigger than 20x20x20. Your packed boxes should not weigh more than 50 lbs. per box.

You will only be able to create your shipping labels from July 10 - 31. We encourage all parcels to be shipped prior to July 31 to streamline delivery to your room. Parcels shipped after July 31 will be delivered to your residence hall mail facility and will require pick-up. If a package needs to be returned, Mailing Services can do so via the ProShip system or UPS portal.

Each resident will be able to create 5 shipping labels to ship 5 packages. Please do not ship any items prohibited by UPS, including illegal substances, explosives and weapons. You’ll receive an email notification from UPS once your packages are delivered to our centralized location for a security scan. You will receive an additional email notification once your packages are delivered to your housing assignment.
