Dr. Jim Earle oversees the Department of Housing, Dining Services, Panther Central, Conference Services, and University Stores. He manages a staff of over 200 employees in addition to managing the University’s contracted food service provider and their 500 employees in over 20 dining locations. Jim’s department is responsible for the housing assignment process, the ID center, and the maintenance and operation of over 30 housing facilities that accommodate more than 8,000 students residing both on and off campus. Also part of Jim’s portfolio is the University’s Conference Services unit, which provides support to numerous events and conferences on campus. Jim’s team also operates the three retail stores on Pitt’s Oakland campus. Jim joined the University of Pittsburgh in 1993, where he served in the Athletic Department for 11 years before taking on his current role. Jim is committed to fulfilling the department’s mission of working to make school a little more like home.
