The University of Pittsburgh's Food Safety and Nutrition Team ensures that Pitt’s food-service operations follow industry-standard best practices.
Rose Basso – Director of Dining Services
Rose Basso is the Director of Dining Services for the University of Pittsburgh. Rose’s responsibilities include managing the contract with the University’s food service provider and monitoring the dining and catering programs. She engages students and staff to best meet their dining needs.
Leigh Culley – Director of Disability Resources and Services
Leigh Culley, MEd, is the Director at Disability Resources and Services at the University of Pittsburgh. She has been with the office since 2002. Leigh oversees service provision for University staff, faculty and students with disabilities within all undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs. Prior to joining the University, Leigh worked with adolescents and adults in community mental health. Leigh earned her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Western Ontario. She achieved a Master of Education in school counseling from the University of Pittsburgh.
Kristin Grover – Registered Dietitian
Kristin Grover is Chartwells Higher Education's Registered Dietitian for Pitt Eats. Kristin received her BS in nutrition and dietetics from the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her master’s in dietetics from the University of Rhode Island. In her role, Kristin works with students and their families to help navigate Pitt’s dietary landscape. Kristin is a key member of the University of Pittsburgh’s Committee on Allergy-Based Dining. She is a team asset with a background in specialty dietary needs and a focus on both assessment and implementation. Kristin encourages students and their families to reach out to her with any questions. She can offer help regarding allergy concerns, micro and macronutrient calculation, religious-based diets, and individualized plans.
Meg Mayer-Costa – Registered Dietitian
Meg Mayer-Costa MS, RD, LDN is the Registered Dietitian for The University of Pittsburgh. She works at the Student Health Service (SHS) located within the Wellness Center of Nordenberg Hall. Meg received her BS in dietetics from University of Connecticut and her Master of Science in nutrition from Penn State. A dietitian for more than 25 years, she also teaches in Pitt’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Meg assists students with any and all issues, questions, and concerns relating to nutrition and their personal health. She also frequently provides nutrition programming to the University community. Meg is a member of the University of Pittsburgh’s Committee on Allergy-Based Dining. She looks forward to working collaboratively with students to support their nutrition and eating needs. Jasmin Sonnet – Quality Assurance Manager
Jasmin Sonnet is the Campus Quality Assurance Manager for Pitt Eats. Her primary responsibilities include training employees on safe food handling practices, maintaining documentation, ensuring products meet quality standards, managing workplace safety, and conducting food safety audits to keep ensure the safety of the Pitt community. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Culinary Arts and Nutrition. Prior to joining the Pitt Eats team, She was an auditor for The Steritech Group, managing and teaching food safety to countless food service workers in the tri-state area. The Quality Assurance Manager implements food safety policies and standards in all aspects of dining around campus.
