Upper-Class Students: Rising Sophomores and Juniors
Rising Sophomores and Juniors who paid their tuition deposit prior to May 1, 2024, and met their financial deposit and housing application deadlines of February 1, 2025, are eligible to choose University-owned housing as a guaranteed upper-class student.
If you received the Housing Application and Lottery number information in your Pitt email, you must process your housing application and deposit by the due date of January 20, 2026, to be guaranteed housing.
1. Your Housing Selection Lottery Number will be used to determine the order in which you select your room. This is a unique number within the range of the total number of current guaranteed residents. View our Non-Guaranteed Student Housing Selection Process if you received a Housing Selection Process email that stated that you are a Non-Guaranteed Student.
2. You will participate in the Selection process in order of your years in housing and then your Housing Selection Lottery Number. Rising Juniors will select their rooms online on March 3-4, 2026, and rising Sophomores will select on March 17-19, 2026, on the housing portal. The Selection Schedule for your specific section time based on your Housing Selection Lottery Number, will be released closer to General Room Selection.
3. Roommates may choose to live together, provided everyone has a housing guarantee and a valid Housing Selection Lottery Number. The roommate with the lowest Housing Selection Lottery Number can log on at the scheduled time and select a room for all of the roommates.
4. Roommates with different academic class statuses may choose to live together, provided all have a housing guarantee. The roommate with the highest academic class status can log on at the scheduled time and select a room for all of the roommates.
5. Any person who has a housing guarantee and a valid Housing Selection Lottery Number, has paid the $325 deposit, and has processed a housing application for next year, but is unable to select a room between March 17-19, 2026, should contact Panther Central before 5 p.m. on March 20, 2026.
6. If you are interested and eligible to retain your room, suite, or apartment, the Room/Suite and Apartment-style Retention process will take place online on January 27, 2026. If you do not retain your accommodation by January 27, 2026, then you will be advised to complete the General Room Selection Process.
