Matthew Sterne - Vice Chancellor for Business Services

Matthew Sterne is the Vice Chancellor for Business Services at the University of Pittsburgh. In this role, he oversees all auxiliary operations for the University, which includes housing, dining, Panther Central, conference services, University Club, campus stores operations, parking and transportation services, mailing, printing and copy services, and surplus property. Matthew manages a staff of over 300 employees in multiple facilities on campus including 20 residence halls, 18 dining locations, and four stores.

Matthew’s prior experience includes more than 20 years in the hospitality industry, including other senior leadership roles. He has managed Fairmont properties in Boston; Scottsdale; Sonoma; and Mont-Tremblant, Canada. He also has experience managing Sheraton Hotels in Montreal and San Diego.

Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University, an MBA from Queen’s University, and graduated from Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. program. He served on the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association Board of Directors and as vice chair of Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.

Julie Bannister – Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services

As the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services, Julie Bannister oversees and provides strategic guidance to the Housing Assignments and Leasing, Panther Central, Dining Services, and Conference Services units of Business and Auxiliary Services. She also supervises the support units of Marketing and Communications and Business Systems. Julie’s duties include oversight of all on-campus housing assignments and University-owned off-campus leasing, direction of Panther Central’s 24-7 customer care center, management of over twenty on-campus dining locations, detailed execution of conferences and events, review of marketing materials, development and implementation of departmental business systems, and supervision of staff.

Jamie Constantino – Administrative and Project Coordinator

Jamie serves as the Administrative and Project Coordinator for Business and Auxiliary Services. She coordinates, assists with, and takes the lead on special departmental projects, serving as the department United Way Coordinator. Jamie represents the department as a liaison with other University offices, vendors, and business partners. She acts as a liaison on behalf of the Vice Chancellor for Business Services.

Mandi Keller – Administrative Assistant

Mandi serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services. Her responsibilities include providing direct administrative support to departmental leadership, data entry and management, monthly reporting, and other special projects.

Auxiliary Business Administration and Maintenance 

Chuck Rubish – Director of Maintenance and Construction

As Director of Maintenance and Construction, Chuck oversees all daily maintenance activities as well as construction and renovation departmental projects. His duties include supervision and safety of all maintenance personnel, preventative maintenance planning, managing the development of construction drawings and specifications, and managing projects from initiation through construction.

Michelle Smith – Housekeeping Coordinator

Michelle supervises all housekeepers in Business and Auxiliary Services. She is responsible for managing daily work assignments, monitoring work performances, and overseeing the cleanliness of the residence halls. Additionally, Michelle processes housekeeping work requests, orders housekeeping supplies and equipment, completes special projects, and makes budgeting recommendations.

Mark Adrian – Building Superintendent

Mark is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the respective buildings listed above. He ensures that his buildings are in efficient and operable manner, including all electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems. He helps to schedule routine and preventative maintenance. Additional responsibilities include: ordering of parts, supplies, and services for assigned buildings, special projects, overseeing renovations from implementation to completion, assisting with budgeting for building costs, and establishing close relationships with outside contractors.

Andy is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the respective buildings listed above. He ensures that his buildings are in efficient and operable manner, including all electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC systems. He helps to schedule routine and preventative maintenance. Additional responsibilities include: ordering of parts, supplies, and services for assigned buildings, special projects, overseeing renovations from implementation to completion, assisting with budgeting for building costs, and establishing close relationships with outside contractors.

Chris Finger - Assistant Housekeeping Coordinator

Chris assists in the supervision of the housekeepers within Business and Auxiliary Services. His responsibilities include: building inspections, creating daily job assignments for employees, processing and assigning housekeeping work requests, ordering of supplies and equipment, and training of new employees. Chris serves as acting supervisor in the Housekeeping Coordinator’s absence.

Jim Wagner – Assistant Manager

Food Service Location: The University Club

Jim serves as an Assistant Manager for our Maintenance Operations team in Business and Auxiliary Services. In this role, Jim supervises all of our Building Superintendents, ensuring that our buildings are safe, clean, and operational. Jim assists with coordinating special maintenance projects and initiatives, acting as the lead maintenance contact for our Food Service locations. 

Tim Wege – Assistant Manager

Tim is responsible for the supervision of all maintenance operations union employees including Housekeepers, Operating Engineers, Maintenance Mechanics, and Electricians. He assigns both preventative and corrective maintenance orders, manages daily work assignments, and monitors work performances. He ensures that all buildings meet department standards for cleanliness and efficiency. He also assists with special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Michael Barker – Leasing Coordinator

As Leasing Coordinator, Mike oversees all aspects of the University-owned off-campus housing application process including apartment viewings/tours, leasing and renewals. John Bumbera - Senior Business Systems Analyst

John serves as the Senior Business Systems Analyst for Business and Auxiliary Services. His daily responsibilities include analysis and support of all departmental systems, responding to service requests, installations, upgrades, and routine maintenance. In addition to his regular duties, John assists with system enhancements and researches future systems initiatives.

Ryan Cassidy – Business Systems Analyst

Ryan is a Business Systems Analyst for Business and Auxiliary Services systems, with a special concentration on MBS and Blackboard. His responsibilities include responding to service requests for the various systems and troubleshooting while providing excellent customer service and support. Additionally, Ryan sets up guest scan-in systems, POS devices, vending, laundry, and copy readers for the University.

Steven Conner – Shift Lead, Evening Shift

Steven assists in supervising the evening shift customer care team. He provides direct customer service and support to students, parents, faculty, and staff. In addition to his customer service responsibilities, Steven assists with special departmental projects as needed.

Kathleen Kyle – Director of Housing and Panther Central

As Director of Housing and Panther Central, Kathleen oversees the entire on-campus housing process and leasing for University-owned off-campus apartments. In addition, she is responsible for the direction of Panther Central operations, including customer service, quality assurance and staff supervision. Kathleen plays a critical role in Arrival Survival operations.

Trisha Margiotti – Off Campus Living Specialist

Trisha assists with maintaining the off campus living portal - posting off campus apartment vacancies, sublets, roommate requests, etc. She also schedules and conducts University-owned off campus apartment viewings/tours, and answers general off campus living questions.

Judah Marroquin – Shift Lead, Daylight Shift

Jena Meyer – Assignments Coordinator

As the Assignments Coordinator, Jena oversees all aspects of the on campus housing assignment process. This process includes freshman room assignments, the housing application and reapplication process, room retention, summer assignments, and the housing waitlist. Jena also serves as the liaison between Panther Central and Residence Life.

Richard Rode – Senior Manager of Business Systems

Rich is the lead technical staff expert for Business and Auxiliary Services. His responsibilities include analyzing and configuring components of departmental software including RMS, Blackboard, Persona, Micros, Kronos, TMA, and Sequoia. He oversees updates of software, troubleshoots complex technical issues, maintains relationships with software and hardware vendors, and makes budget recommendations.

Tami Roskies – Office Assistant

Tami is a member of the Panther Central team who is responsible for a variety of routine administrative office functions. Her responsibilities include filing, shredding, copying, maintaining the file room, general up-keep of office areas, and other basic administrative duties.

Amanda Smith – Communications Coordinator

Amanda is responsible for social media and website communication and strategy for Business and Auxiliary Services, recommending changes as necessary. She researches best practices and strategizes future initiatives, assisting with written content, marketing initiatives, and publications.

Ellyse St. John - Communications Coordinator

Ellyse leads department design initiatives, manages advertising and brand development projects, and designs marketing materials for Business and Auxiliary Services. She assists with social media graphics, web design, and research of current trends and best practices in the field.

Rachel Yoke – Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications

Rachel serves as the Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications for Business and Auxiliary Services. She acts as the final format and text reviewer for all Departmental communications and creates new marketing initiatives. She is responsible for customer outreach, as well as analyzing and forecasting marketing trends. Rachel also supervises three Communications Coordinators and completes special projects for the Department.

Tom Zullo – Quality Assurance and Training Coordinator
