Residence Life Amenities

Resident Directors, Assistant Hall Directors, and Resident Assistants:

All residence halls and apartment style accommodations are staffed with resident directors (RDs). All residence halls are also staffed with resident assistants (RAs). Sutherland Hall and Towers A and B also have an assistant hall director (AHD) on staff.

RDs are full-time professional staff employees who work with students and staff to provide leadership for the building. One RD is on staff in each residence hall. AHDs are graduate students who work closely with the RDs. There is one RA per residence hall floor or wing. RAs are upperclass students who have been trained to assist students with personal, social, academic, and environmental concerns.

Residence Life

Residence Life staff provides information and programs supporting academic goals, personal growth, and development of University students in residence halls. The Residence Life office is on the ninth floor of the William Pitt Union.

Resident Student Association

The Resident Student Association (RSA) is the governing body of students who live in the residence halls. The RSA provides input to the University on any and all aspects of on-campus life.

Living Learning Communities

Throughout campus, you will find entire residence halls and several floors within residence halls, designated as Living Learning Communities. These communities allow students who share a special academic or personal interest to live and learn together. Details about our upperclass and first-year LLCs can be found on the Residence Life website.
