The University of Pittsburgh owns affordable and well-maintained apartments that are available to be leased by undergrads, graduate students, staff, and faculty. All University-owned apartments are rented on a one-year lease. The apartments are unfurnished (Residences on Bigelow is fully furnished) and located in several neighborhoods close to the University of Pittsburgh. Please explore the available options below.

University-Owned Apartment Eligibility
- Undergraduate and Transfer Students
Undergraduate students are not required to live on campus and may choose to reside in University-owned apartments or off-campus housing.
If you are an undergraduate student, you may be eligible to live in the University’s residence halls. More information is available for guaranteed upper-class students, undergraduate students without guaranteed on-campus housing, and transfer students. To discuss your eligibility for on-campus housing accommodations, contact Panther Central.
- Graduate Students/PostDocs
Graduate and PostDoc students are unable to live in on-campus accommodations and must choose to reside in University-owned apartments or independently owned off-campus apartments.
- International Students
If you are an undergraduate student, you may be eligible to live in one of the University’s residence halls. Contact Panther Central to determine if you have a housing guarantee or need to be placed on the non-guaranteed waitlist. However, you are not required to live on campus and may choose to reside in a University-owned apartment or an independently owned off-campus apartment.
Graduate students and visiting scholars are not eligible to live in the University’s residence halls and will need to reside in University-owned apartments or off-campus accommodations.

Residences on Bigelow are available to Graduate Students, Staff, Faculty, Medical Students, and Undergrads.
Darragh Street Apartments are available exclusively for students in the Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, and Nursing Schools.
College Gardens Apartments in Shadyside are available to Undergrads, Graduate Students, Staff, and Faculty.
Hyacinth Apartments are available to Undergrads, Graduate Students, Staff, and Faculty.
Mayflower Apartments are available to Pitt students and Affiliates.
Shirley Apartments are available to Pitt students and Affiliates.
